EV Charger Installation in Burton Bradstock

This week we completed another electric vehicle charging installation in Bindbarrow, Burton Bradstock, overlooking the Jurassic Coast near Bridport.

The project began with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) to assess the condition of the existing electrical installation before any new work was carried out. During the inspection we identified a number of issues that needed to be addressed before an EV charger could be installed safely.

As part of the project, we upgraded both the main dwelling and garage consumer units with modern FuseBox consumer units, complete with individual RCBO protection and Type 2 Surge Protection Devices (SPDs).

The existing garage was supplied by an older twin & earth cable installed beneath paving slabs, which wasn’t considered a suitable method of installation for this application. We replaced it with a new steel wire armoured (SWA) submain, providing a robust and reliable supply to the garage for many years to come.

The Ohme Home Pro charger was installed on its own dedicated circuit, incorporating load management to help ensure the property’s electrical supply isn’t overloaded during vehicle charging. Once the installation was complete, we carried out comprehensive testing before issuing the Electrical Installation Certificates and notifying the work through NICEIC.
